Visit to the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, UAE
A joint team from LKCMedicine and Imperial College London visited the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates from 10 to 12 November to observe the use of Team- Based Learning (TBL) as a teaching tool. The visitors also had the chance to view teaching facilities there, while being briefed about Sharjah University’s teaching philosophy.

LKCMedicine at Imperial College Alumni Gathering
LKCMedicine, led by Professor Martyn Partridge, was given the opportunity to share the ethos, programme and most recent developments of the school to alumni of Imperial College London at Eden Hall on 5 November 2012. Hosted by the British High Commissioner His Excellency Antony Phillipson, the event saw Rector of Imperial College London, Sir Keith O’Nions, emphasising the strong collaboration between NTU and Imperial to develop and steer LKCMedicine to great success.

Yishun Polyclinic’s New Home
On 26 November, LKCMedicine's healthcare partner Yishun Polyclinic, relocated to its new premises at 30A Yishun Central 1. Located beside Yishun Reservoir, the cutting-edge healthcare facility has been made more accessible to the public and is designed to allow natural light to filter through its facilities. To accommodate more patients, the new clinic will have 25 nursing rooms compared to 13 previously, as well as three more consultation rooms.

NTU Co-Hosts Singapore’s Inaugural Nanomedicine Symposium
For the first time in Singapore, NTU and Wiley-VCH jointly organised an international symposium that saw leading experts discussing the latest breakthroughs and challenges in nanomedicine. Held from 10 to 12 December 2012 at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel, the symposium themed “Frontiers in Nanomedicine” was attended by about 300 researchers and students.

KTPH Aces MOH Patient Survey Again
For the second year running, LKCMedicine’s healthcare partner Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) came out tops in a Ministry of Health (MOH) survey on service at public health-care institutions. About eight in 10 patients described service as “excellent” or “good” while nine in 10 were satisfied with their wards at KTPH.

Visit by National Healthcare Group Polyclinics 
Key leaders from one of LKCMedicine’s clinical partners, National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP) visited LKCMedicine on 13 December 2012 to learn more about integrated care for patients. LKCMedicine Senior Vice Dean Professor Martyn Partridge and Senior Assistant Director Rosie Hassett shared their experience in North West London where care and patient satisfaction were key factors in treatment. Professor Partridge also took the opportunity to share with the visitors the latest developments at LKCMedicine.

Imperial Appoints First Provost
Imperial College London has appointed Professor James Stirling FRS CBE as its first Provost. As part of an overall change in Imperial’s leadership which started early this year, the new role of Provost assumes responsibility for the College’s core academic mission - education, research and translation. Besides being an outstanding theoretical particle physicist, Professor Stirling has an excellent track record in university leadership. He is currently the Jacksonian Professor of Natural Philosophy and Head of the Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge, and was previously Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research at Durham University.
