New Imperial College London President Appointed
Imperial College London has announced that Professor Alice P Gast will succeed Sir Keith O’Nions as President from September 2014, becoming the 16th head and first woman to lead Imperial. As President, Professor Gast will lead the College’s strategy, including the development of its new 25 acre campus, Imperial West, and its links to government, industry, philanthropists and alumni. Professor Gast is currently President of Lehigh University and former Vice President for Research and Associate Provost at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

LKCMedicine’s 4th Inspirational Lecture
On 10 February, LKCMedicine held its 4th
Inspirational Lecture at NTU’s Lee Kong Chian Lecture Theatre hosted by Senior Vice-Dean Professor Jenny Higham. Professor Bernhard Boehm, Professor
of Metabolic Disease and Director of Metabolic Medicine Research Programme was the key speaker, delivering “Tipping Points: Why I became a Doctor”. Vice-Dean, Education Associate Professor Naomi Low- Beer shared what LKCMedicine can offer prospective students while Assistant Dean, Family Medicine Associate Professor Wong Teck Yee gave insights on what makes a good medical student. LKCMedicine student Rachel Lim then presented about student life. The event ended with a panel discussion chaired by Professor Higham.

Let’s Talk NTU 2014
NTU held its Let’s Talk 2014 event on 18 January at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition. Close to 2,000 visitors attended, which was comparable to last year’s attendance rate. Vice-Dean, Clinical Affairs Associate Professor Pang Weng Sun delivered the LKCMedicine talk which was very well-received by both students and parents.

LKCMedicine Hosts Junior College Principals
Sixteen principals of Singapore’s junior colleges and specialised schools including IB schools held their monthly meeting at the Novena campus Board Room on 23 January, after which the School leadership presented an update on our admissions procedure and the student life of our pioneer intake. During the meeting, the principals learnt more about the admissions criteria and the IT-enabled Team-Based Learning at LKCMedicine.
