Ending one year with an eye to the next
By Nicole Lim, Editor, The LKCMedicine
Bucking the reflective year-end trend, our December issue is all about change. We examine in detail the workforce transformation and healthcare innovations that will bring about better care, topics that were discussed and debated by local and international experts during the inaugural FutureHealth 2017 conference. FutureHealth was jointly organised by LKCMedicine, Centre for Healthcare Innovation and NTU Institute for Health Technologies.
Change is also afoot for the university as we bid a fond farewell to one of the School’s greatest champions – outgoing NTU President Professor Bertil Andersson – and extend a warm welcome to incoming President Professor Subra Suresh. Did you know the two presidents share a birthday?
And on a much more local level, we’re also shaking things up in our columns. To celebrate the breadth of our connections with Imperial, we’ve renamed our From the London Office column to Imperial Connection. In its inaugural edition, this column features a commentary by our Vice-Dean for Education Professor Naomi Low-Beer, an interview with Imperial Faculty of Medicine acting Dean Professor Johnathan Weber as well as a number of updates on the diverse student exchanges from members of the London Office and Associate Dean and Head of Undergraduate School Medicine Mr Martin Lupton.
As always, we also have the latest news and happenings from the School, our scientists and students right here.
Happy reading and happy holidays!
