Launch of Health City Novena

Health City Novena was launched on 30 August 2013 by Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Atrium. The event was attended by all the stakeholders including LKCMedicine. The respective heads of the stakeholder institutions joined Minister Gan, Permanent Secretary for Health Mrs Tan Ching Yee, Minister of State (Health & Manpower) Dr Amy Khor, and Senior Minister of State (Prime Minister’s Office) Mr Heng Chee How on stage at the launch pedestal to officially launch the project. LKCMedicine was represented by our Governing Board Chairman Mr Lim Chuan Poh.

Health City Novena is the first integrated healthcare master plan development in Singapore where care and community both take centrestage. To be completed in two major phases by 2030, Health City Novena will be an integrated and sustainable urban development that will incorporate many vibrant features that extend beyond healthcare to encompass a complete and holistic eco-system. This includes health services, research and education, commercial, leisure and public spaces to achieving the goal of building a place where ‘Healthy Life is Central’.

The following day saw the community launch of the project ‘Health City Day’. Officiated by Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministries of Health and Transport Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, the launch began with a walkathon that brought participants through various heritage sites in Novena, including LKCMedicine’s Novena Campus. LKCMedicine staff and students participated in the walkathon which ended with a carnival consisting of a bazaar, health screening and game stalls.
