Six teams win LKCMedicine-SCBE grants

Six interdisciplinary teams from LKCMedicine and the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) were awarded the inaugural LKCMedicine-SCBE Collaborative Grant. The start-up grant nurtures interdisciplinary partnerships between basic scientists, clinician scientists and biomedical engineers to drive
innovation. The winning teams work in the areas of antimicrobial resistance, regenerative medicine, vaccine development, novel respiratory therapeutics, wound healing and diabetic ulcers. To read more about it, click here.

Collaborating for better oral health

On 14 July, the LKCMedicine-National Dental Centre Singapore Frontiers in Oral Health Research workshop was held at the Experimental Medicine Building to explore opportunities for collaboration and sharing of expertise and resources, including animal models, cell lines and service platforms.

Top French honour for GB Chairman

On 7 July, LKCMedicine Governing Board (GB) Chairman Mr Lim Chuan Poh was honoured with France’s highest order for military and civil merits – the Order of the Legion of Honour with the rank of Knight in recognition for his actions in the development of cooperation in the fields of science and technology between France and Singapore.

LKCMedicine co-organises outbreak course

At the end of June, more than 40 government officials and policymakers from the ASEAN region came together at the Ramada Singapore and Communicable Disease Centre for the five-day Outbreak Detection and Response Course, co-organised by LKCMedicine. The course, which also involved experts from Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the US Defence Institute for Medical Operations, covered latest best practices, and hands-on simulation exercises.
