Assistant Manager, Curriculum
1 June 2015 marks the one-year anniversary of my journey with LKCMedicine. How time flies!
What do I do? In a nutshell, my main role is to ensure the smooth delivery of the clinical curriculum, particularly the Integrated Clinical Practice course and Long-Term Patient Project.
No day is the same. I can be arranging teaching schedules, meeting the Course Leads to go through preparations prior to the start of teaching sessions and coordinating students' patient visits with healthcare partners on one day; and the next, I can be cracking my head to compile the student revision guide, making sure that an up-to-date copy is available to them on the portal. And then there's the administrative side to keep things ticking over.
The most rewarding aspects of my job are the opportunity and privilege to work with truly remarkable and wonderful people — the colleagues and clinicians from the various healthcare institutions – and the feeling of satisfaction that comes from worthwhile accomplishments.
It is fun to work at LKCMedicine where the flexible environment supports innovation. Every day is filled with excitement and challenges. I work with really great people who are supportive and true team players. They come from all walks of life and have varying degrees of experience. I have learned so much from them.
My work offers a great mix of interaction and independence. I love the good relationships I have with members of my department – how we encourage each other, help each other out, and have a great time together. The camaraderie is priceless!
Being part of the curriculum team, especially in LKCMedicine, has allowed me to grow, both personally and professionally. No doubt, I am glad to be right in the heart of the action.
The journey ahead is still long. I'm confident there will be many more interesting things for me to explore.
