Baking up a storm
With Lunar New Year just round the corner, a group of NTU alumni experience the joy of making their own festive cakes and cookies at a baking workshop

On a light rainy day on 19 January, a group of enthusiastic NTU alumni turned up for some masterclass training at the NTU Alumni Festive Baking Workshop. At the event organised by the NTU Alumni Affairs Office, participants were able to create yummy orange cupcakes with yuzu frosting and osmanthus flower cookies, while following a unique recipe and step-by-step instructions from the trainer chef.

The session began with the chef giving an introduction to the process of  baking the perfectly moist orange cupcake. Following her demonstration, participants formed themselves into groups of two for a hands-on session. While the steps may seem complicated, it was made easier by detailed instructions from the chef. Success was evidenced by an inviting aroma that soon filled the room, and later the participants also made beautiful frosting and sweets to adorn their cupcakes, making their creations even more irresistible.

Soon after the orange cupcakes were baked and decorated, the alumni participants went on to create fragrant and crunchy osmanthus flower cookies. But the baking class did not just end there. The participants also got the chef to share her knowledge on how to make chocolate cupcakes.

At the end of the workshop, alumni participants proudly brought home their perfectly baked cookies, with some of them planning to bake more for the upcoming festive celebrations.
