This microscopic view of cells captures the moment when proteins, in bright green, marshal near the cell membrane ready to transport lipids into the cellular organelle that processes them. This process is key to maintaining the right balance of lipids in the body and brain and is a focus of Nanyang Assistant Professor Yasunori Saheki’s research. When this balance is disrupted, it can lead to neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
