Curriculum Updates From London
By Dr Georgina Morris
I am very pleased to be writing this article as the new Curriculum Development Lead, based in London. The London Office of LKCMedicine has been very busy putting the finishing touches to the curriculum for Year 1. Finalisation of the Team Based Learning (TBL) preparatory material, in the form of the narrated PowerPoint presentations is now complete. We are also excited to have completed our own bespoke interactive iBook that will be used as TBL preparatory material for the Scientific and Enquiry and Special Study (SESS) course in Year 1. The iBook includes contributions from several distinguished clinicians and scientists at Imperial, who have been videoed discussing the importance of scientific developments to their clinical practice.
Following all the hard work that has been put into creating our innovative, TBL-based curriculum, I am pleased to report that we have been invited to give a joint workshop, involving LKCMedicine faculty from both London and Singapore, at the forthcoming Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) in January 2014, to inform others involved in Clinical Education about this process.
It was wonderful to meet colleagues from LKCMedicine in Singapore during my recent visit, and talk to prospective students and their parents at one of the Hi-Tea sessions in May. I am looking forward to meeting my peers in Singapore again for the Away Day in July, together with colleagues from the London Office and the Year 2 Course Leads from Imperial.
