NTU Provost awarded Imperial Faculty of Medicine Fellowship
Professor Freddy Boey, Deputy President and Provost of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has
been awarded an Imperial College London’s Faculty of Medicine Fellowship. At the Fellowships
ceremony in London on 12 February, Professor Boey also gave a guest lecture on ‘Achieving Academic & Research Excellence for a Young University - Perspectives from Singapore’.
LKCMedicine Prof Ferenczi awarded MOE research grant
A new research lab of cardiac biophysics is to be created at LKCMedicine following an MOE Tier
2 research grant worth S$820,000 awarded to Professor Michael Ferenczi, Professor of Medical Sciences in NTU and Assistant Dean, Head of Phase 1 in LKCMedicine. The lab will develop
biophysical techniques to evaluate the role of sarcomeric proteins in the healthy heart and in cardiac disease, building on previous experience gained at Imperial College London.
LKCMedicine hosts JC Principals
On 26 February, LKCMedicine hosted Singapore’s junior college principals, who visited the medical school to be updated about the School’s admissions process as well as campus and
curriculum development. Senior Vice-Dean Professor Martyn Partridge also gave the visitors a tour of the school facilities. The visit concluded with a buffet lunch for the principals hosted by Professor Partridge and LKCMedicine Chief Operating Officer Dr Lionel Lee.
Let’s Talk NTU!
On 26 January, Let’s Talk NTU! was held at The Sands Expo and Convention Centre of Marina Bay Sands. NTU hosted prospective students who wish to learn more about the university’s
courses. Senior Vice-Dean Professor Martyn Partridge gave a talk about the School’s innovative medical course to interested students and parents. The School received considerable attention
at the event given that it opens this year in August.
