LKCMedicine Staff Away Day 2013
LKCMedicine held its first Staff Away Day at its new HQ building at 11 Mandalay Road on 8 July 2013. The Away Day was attended by more than 180 staff, including clinicians, researchers, scientists, teaching faculty and administration staff. Staff had hands-on experience of the School’s pedagogy and innovative curriculum delivery during Team-Based Learning and Simulation sessions as well as viewing the new facilities such as the Library and Seminar Room.

Governing Board Advance
On 15 July 2013, the LKCMedicine Governing Board Advance was held at the Novena Campus. The Advance provided the opportunity for the Governing Board members and healthcare partners to experience the pedagogy and curriculum that the medical students themselves would be experiencing. The Board members also met with 10 selected students from the first cohort of LKCMedicine over lunch. The event concluded with positive feedback from Chairman, Governing Board Mr Lim Chuan Poh on the development of the school’s curriculum and readiness in receiving the first cohort of students.

School Visits and Talks by LKCMedicine
16 July 2013 marked the start of LKCMedicine’s schools outreach programme. Over seven days, the team visited 10 schools and we hosted students from 20 other schools, JCs and polytechnics for two talks at our Novena campus. We were delighted to have a number of our inaugural students join these sessions and offer their thoughts on their experiences regarding the admissions process.

LKCMedicine Exhibition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital
To help drum up awareness of Singapore’s newest medical school, LKCMedicine’s primary clinical partner, the National Healthcare Group (NHG) in collaboration with the School held an exhibition at Tan
Tock Seng Hospital on 31 July 2013. The exhibition showcased LKCMedicine’s innovative curriculum and pedagogy as well as the latest updates from NHG. The exhibition was well-received by the general
public and NHG staff.


Hair for Hope 2013 at LKCMedicine
LKCMedicine did its part for charity by participating in this year’s Hair for Hope organised by Children’s Cancer Foundation. On 10 July 2013, 12 staff volunteered to have their heads shaved to raise funds and awareness of childhood cancer. As of press time, $13,457 has been raised.
