It has been a long and arduous journey for the LKCMedicine’s admissions team but the inaugural batch of 54 has finally been selected. Come 5 August 2013, these students will make history and attend their first day at Singapore’s newest medical school.
From the more than 800 applications the School received, 440 candidates were shortlisted to attend the Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI). The MMI, held last April, was a major step in the School’s process to choose the very best candidates.

"As a new medical school, LKCMedicine is often compared to schools that are older and more established,” says Mr Tan Kia Yen, Assistant Director of Admissions.
“Some candidates have expressed their anxieties about joining a school that has no track record,” says Mr Tan, highlighting some of the doubts raised by students and parents of the inaugural intake.
Beyond such concerns, the School remains focused to ensure that the architectural, curricular, financial and social support structures put in place are top-notch so that students will receive a world-class medical education and become future-ready doctors for Singapore.
Currently, the School is awaiting confirmation from MINDEF regarding national service disruptions. With the encouraging admission numbers, the countdown to 5 August 2013 will be particularly exciting as our faculty and staff prepare to welcome the 54 pioneers.
