As 2014 comes to a close, The LKCMedicine takes a reflective approach for its last issue of the year, looking at the challenges women in science face and what can be done to inspire more to stay the course.
TIME Magazine has just named Ebola fighters as its choice for the Person of the Year 2014, so we discuss the responsibilities of doctors to society during times of crises with infectious diseases experts and Vice-Dean for Clinical Affairs Associate Professor Pang Weng Sun.
On a lighter note, our new Year 1 students talk about student life – what hall life has to offer, where the best places to study are and whether it was really as scary as they thought when they met their first patient barely two months into the course.
We also have the latest news – including the launch of 11 Mandalay Road, a commemorative book about the history and the painstaking restoration of the School’s heritage headquarters – and updates on curriculum development.
Happy reading and happy holidays!
