NTU CN Yang Scholars Alumni Association launched to provide bridge for former scholars to stay connected
The launch of the 32nd local-based alumni association, NTU CN Yang Scholars Alumni Association (AA) was held in conjunction with the University’s CN Yang Scholars Club annual dinner and dance event. Themed ‘A Victorian Masquerade
’, close to 120 alumni, students and guests attended the glamourous event on 8 March at the Goodwood Park Hotel.
Some of the alumni and students attending the dinner came decked in beautiful Victorian costumes and gowns, whilst everyone was given a decorative eye mask to tie in with the event theme.
At the event, Director of the NTU CN Yang Scholars Programme, Associate Professor Tan Choon Hong, encouraged all the students and alumni to stay connected and congratulated the alumni on the formation of the AA.
President of the AA, Mr Mohammad Zaidi Bin Ariffin, said: “To our present and past scholars, the Association will connect our alumni to you through the Scholars Club and source for opportunities such as internships and research opportunities. We hope to provide a glimpse of the diverse career paths embarked by your seniors and help you with yours.” He also urged more alumni to come forward and serve as the AA’s committee members.
Throughout the dinner event, the alumni, students and guests were treated to performances, games and a lucky draw. A special one-hour salsa workshop was conducted for them, by student dancers from the NTU Cultural Activities Club. Some students also participated in a singing competition, ‘CN Yang Talent Time 2014’
where the winner was chosen through audience votes.© Alumni Affairs Office
