NTU alumni catch the latest blockbuster Star Wars movie at an exclusive movie screening

After years of anticipation, fans of the Star Wars movie franchise were finally treated to the much awaited sequel some 30 years after the ‘Return of the Jedi’. NTU alumni had a blast enjoying the awesome big-screen experience at an exclusive movie screening on 20 December at GV VivoCity.

More than 140 alumni and their families and friends gathered for the screening of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens organised by the NTU Alumni Affairs Office.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the movie sees the return of Harrison Ford as Hans Solo, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. In the movie, the First Order has risen from the fallen Galactic Empire and seeks to eliminate Luke, who has gone missing, and the Republic. Newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega who play Rey and Finn respectively, shine in their roles as they try to fight the commander of the First Order, Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver.

The movie goers gleefully lapped up the film’s engaging storyline coupled with stunning visual effects. Touted by many as the movie event of the year, it brings back the best of the original trilogy while adding amazing new characters.

After the success of this movie, Star Wars fans are already eagerly awaiting the sequel Episode VIII slated for a release in 2017.
