On 29 April 2013, Singapore’s healthcare scene will witness history in the making as Singapore’s newest medical school, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), moves to its headquarters at 11 Mandalay. As part of LKCMedicine’s welcoming ceremony, LKCMedicine staff will march to the headquarters to signify the School’s move to its Novena Campus.
The move is well in time before the School opens its doors on 5 August 2013. The HQ, a pre-war building that's been newly restored, was a former nurses' hostel. The building will have an annex - the new Education Wing - which will be equipped with a 180-seat auditorium, a 60-seat seminar room, a board room and a medical library. A student lounge is also sited within the HQ on the ground floor. With the expected completion of the Annex building by June, the School will be ready to operate out of a dual campus - one in Novena and another in NTU Yunnan Garden.

LKCMedicine’s headquarters at 11 Mandalay has always been historically linked with the development of medical education in Singapore as it is in close proximity with Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Since the 1940s, medical students have been going to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for hands-on clinical lessons.
