Bringing people together through art
School of Social Sciences alumni learn all about modern calligraphy

School of Social Sciences (SSS) alumni convened at a quaint hide-out on the morning of 14 October for a highly popular calligraphy workshop at The Workroom. The three-hour Modern Calligraphy Workshop gave the 18 alumni an opportunity to catch up with one another while exploring their creative skills.

Due to the limited studio space, The Workroom was only able to accommodate a small group of participants each time. Nonetheless, the intimately-sized class meant alumni enjoyed devoted guidance from The Workroom’s friendly instructor, Ruth. Participants were introduced to tools required to create their own works of art, and taught rudimentary techniques and basic strokes using the alphabet.

At the end of the workshop, each participant delightfully went home with their individual masterpieces and a carefully curated beginners’ kit for pointed pen calligraphy.
