11233792_820193238069470_3272937282131457888_o.jpgOn 9 May 2015, LKCMedicine hosted tea for about 90 prospective students, who had met the rigorous entry requirements to LKCMedicine's MBBS programme.

The tea for the students and their parents took place at the Marina Bay Sands EXPO and Convention Centre, and was hosted by LKCMedicine Dean Professor James Best. Also in attendance were honoured guests NTU Provost Professor Freddy Boey, NTU Senior Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education Professor Kam Chan Hin and Professor Philip Choo, Group Chief Executive Officer of the National Healthcare Group.

Prof Best welcomed the students and congratulated them on being offered a place in our third cohort. Prof Boey spoke on NTU's rapid climb in international rankings and the strong support by NTU senior management to build LKCMedicine into a world-class medical school. Doctors from LKCMedicine, he said, would not only have a firm foundation in basic sciences and clinical experience but also a deep understanding of the latest advances in medical research.

LKCMedicine's Vice-Dean for Education Associate Professor Naomi Low-Beer spoke next on "A First Class Education at LKCMedicine", during which she outlined the School's innovative and modern curriculum. Professor Philip Choo, then underlined the importance of the prospective students' roles as Singapore's future doctors.

The attendees also heard from our students: LKCMedicine's Sundeep Subramani and Sophia Wong took to the stage to give the audience a glimpse into their lives as medical students, sharing their experiences of LKCMedicine's house support system, Team-Based Learning and active hostel life.

The event concluded with an engaging Question-and-Answer session. Parents and students had the opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed, for example on the use of Team-Based Learning, residency year, exchange programmes and student electives, as well as career prospects upon graduation.
