  Fishing fun at the kelong

Leaving behind their hectic lifestyles, 90 alumni and students took off for a short weekend trip to the middle of the Sibu Sea.

The team of enthusiastic anglers, including members from the NTU Anglers' Club, set off on a 2-day trip to a kelong on 29 September.

Departing from the Tanjung Leman Jetty, the boat ride took about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the kelong, the fishing enthusiasts got into action at once. Their efforts paid off handsomely - catches included a 4-kilogram squid and a flathead fish.

Speaking on his fishing experience, Mr Loh Yin Chan, a graduate from the School of Civil and Environment Engineering, Class of 2001, said, "When I fish, I feel that I need to cultivate patience and strategy; rushing is of no use."

In the evening, everyone gathered to feast on the fresh seafood. More fishing continued through the night. Though tired, the participants had a wonderful weekend trip of fun and relaxation. "I loved the trip. It was a wonderful experience learning how to fish," said Ms Tricia Mok, an alumna from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Class of 2002.
