Flash IT, the E-card Team
Louisa Kok Chien Yi
History behind the E-card Team
CITS' very own e-card team was first formed in 2002 with only 3 members, namely Anitha, Ricky and Louisa. The team is responsible for producing e-cards for 5 festive seasons -- Chinese New Year, Convocation, Deepavali, Hari Raya Puasa and Seasons Greetings.

Due to the great popularity of the e-cards among staff and students, the team has recruited more members in order to produce more e-cards for NTU. When Koon Ngee, Lily, Mui Hiang and Sri joined the team, the members decided to come up with a name for the team. Thus, Flash IT was formed.

Process of Creating an E-card
3 to 5 members would work on the e-cards for each season.  Together with Ivan, a media developer from CED, members would come up with ideas and present them to each other and representatives from Corporate Communications.  After the brainstorming sessions, themes which are most appealing and creative would be selected. This is followed by more work on the concept and the actual creation of the e-cards.

Completed e-cards will then be made available in the NTU Homepage 2 to 3 weeks in advance for the public to send out their greetings.

Difficulties Faced in Creation of E-card
One of the difficulties that the Flash IT team encountered was during the peak period of Nov to Dec, when there are usually 4 seasons consecutively -- Deepavali, Hari Raya Puasa, Season's Greetings and Chinese New Year. Members (who are all working on the e-cards on a part-time basis) will have to spend more time working on the e-cards during this time compared to the rest of the year.

Statistics
The e-cards were well received by the public during the previous year's Season's Greetings festivals. More than 10,000 e-cards were sent out! Some of the e-cards received very good and favorable comments. This is perhaps the greatest reward for the team.

Do continue to support us by sending your Chinese New Year greetings using our freshly designed e-cards available now on the NTU website.
