Letter of Certification System (LOCS) for Research Staff

Teresa Wee Yen Lin, OHR

As we work towards service excellence and using automation to improve our processes, we are pleased to announce the launch of the online Letter of Certification System (LOCS) for research staff on 22 March 2012.

This system allows research staff to obtain letters to certify their employment in NTU for application of visa, housing, childcare, etc.  LOCS aims to reduce manual paper flow, thereby increasing productivity, efficiency and availability of information.

Before the launch of LOCS, research staff had to make a personal trip to Office of Human Resources (OHR) to complete and submit a hard copy request form. As all employment certification letters required endorsement (i.e. authorised signature by OHR), research staff then had to make a second trip to OHR when the letter was ready for collection.

With the launch of this system, such requests can now be submitted online via our Intranet Portal, iNTU (or StaffLink). In addition, LOCS enables research staff to print their employment certification letters without salary information from the system at their own convenience.

Benefits of LOCS:

  • Research staff can save time in not making trips to OHR to request for the employment certification letters.
  • Certification letters without salary information can be printed immediately, no waiting time is required.
  • Research staff are given the flexibility to collect letters with salary information from OHR or their own school/research centre, wherever is more convenient for them.
